I tried prefolds for my LO from 2 weeks and liked it. It's easy to use and wash and holds couple of pees. Prefolds are of use even now when my LO is 3 months. I use it padfolded sometimes. Neos are trimmest new born diapers. It keeps baby dry for 4 hours. I use it with hemp boosters. Aviva and duet I started when my LO was around 4.5kg and it fit better with occasional leaks because I started of early. It was a good idea i believe as these diapers can be used till we potty train our babies. These diapers are trim and easy to use and flaunt during baby's occasional outings. I feel lucky to have become a parent during modern cloth diaper era. Hope this will help a new mom in her CD journey.
On prefold - infant as well as newborn size
I had the infant size prefold which is made of organic cotton, bought in the starter pack but wasn't aware of how to use it by itself and was just lying after prepping it well. After reading the posts in circle and found the many ways of its use, I tried it as a padfolded insert inside a pocket for night time and it was a hit. No leaks, super trim (used it in a trim pocket) and comfortable. From then on, I have been using it inside pocket and it gives a good 8hours of undisturbed sleep. In Monsoon, I pair it with hemp booster for additional absorbency and it lasts 10-11hours. I also received a newborn size prefold (GCDC participation goodie) and used it inside Aviva shell along with hemp booster and fleece liner and it does the same job. 8hours by itself and up to 11hours along with hemp.
During daytime, its my goto option for short outings which might get extended slightly over 4 hours for I don't need to change on the go and there are no leaks, no wetting of clothes and trim too. It's a must have for they dry quickly and I'm planning to have few more as extra inserts for emergency.
It is too soft on the bum...gaining its pee holding capacity in each wash...I loved the performance and it is skin friendly too..bye bye to disposables when we have Bumpadum with us...love for bumbadum never ends...
